A montage of matchups for Tekken 6

April 30, 2009

Tekken 6(PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PSP) is all over the news today! Here's another vid, and this time, it's my kind of video. This one's a montage of a few matchups, showing characters exchange combos. By combos, I mean real ones, not just plainly doing the ones you can find on the command list. Hope you guys like this one as much as I did.

First up is the Mishimas' idea of father-son bonding. By bonding, they mean, "my knuckles, bonding with your jaw." Kazuya didn't even get to land one in when Jin went to business. Then there's the Williams sisters trading juggles. but with Anna getting the worst out of the exchange after the floor gave while Nina was going to work.

Bob's combos look pretty good, and for a fat guy, he moves pretty fast. Really looking forward to playing him on a controller. Then last we have Christie and Asuka, where the Christie-user demonstrated the precise, non-button-mashed combos that Christie should be doing, not the random twirling that some people tend to do.

From earlier today:

Tekken 6 will have console-specific features

April 30, 2009

Tekken 6 executive producer Katsuhiro Harada spoke of "console-specific" content earlier today at a Namco Bandai presentation. It won't be the first time for us to read about console exclusivities when it comes to Tekken 6 content, but what we have now is a confirmation from the publisher's brass.

Please Namco Bandai, bring these guys back! - Image 1

Although he didn't go into detail as to what exactly the "console-specific" content would be, at least now some of the rumors have been confirmed. We already know that the PSP version will have levels and character customization options that the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions won't have, but will the exclusivity be limited to a few extra clothes and levels? Somehow I doubt that, or is it just the Tekken fan in me wanting old characters back?

Realistically speaking, Gon is imba, so I don't think Namco Bandai is gonna bring him back, unless it's just for kicks. Angel is basically Devil Kazuya anyway, so it's possible. But if it's Ogre or Dr. Bosconovitch, things could get interesting, especially for Ogre, who'd have so many moves that'll be great for the new physics.

On exclusives and tie-ups:

Gameplay footages and features for Fate/unlimited codes

April 30, 2009

The sultry cast of the Japanese erotic visual novel, Fate/stay night, has decided to go for less ass-showing and more ass-kicking in Fate/unlimited codes. Now this vid isn't much like the "visual" novel or the anime that you've gotten used to, but it might get you interested in this 3D fighter for the PSP.

Graphics and physics kinda remind me of King of Fighters and Marvel vs. Capcom. Some wicked combos shown there, including sweet air combos, but it really doesn't stand out as a 3D fighter. One great thing about it is that fans of the Fate get to see familiar anime cut scenes, as well as enjoy the same art style that they've seen from the novels.

Fate/unlimited codes is slated for a summer release in North America, available only as a digital downloadable on the PlayStation Store for US 29.99.

A literally groundbreaking trailer for Tekken 6

April 30, 2009

New trailer's up for Tekken 6 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and just recently, PSP) and this one has a lot of emphasis on the game's new and literally groundbreaking new environmental feature. While you're busy bashing your foe's face into the ground, the ground proves that it's easier to break than the kings of the iron face.

It's not just the floor, you can also break through walls and columns now. Namco Bandai seems to have anticipated the juggling concerns that players may have against the new feature, so they showed it in the vid - you can still continue your juggles after you fall. Characters with excellent pick-up moves will get a good kick out of this one.

Capcom - Image 1

Even after the big Captivate09 blowout that they recently had, it looks like Capcom still isn't done. A tweet on the Capcom Unity Twitter account has revealed that the company still has two games left to announce at E3 2009:

You think we have great titles now? Wait 'til we announce two more at E3!

No details whatsoever yet, but E3's just a bit over a month away. What do you guys think it will be? Lost Planet 2 for PS3? Another remake of a Resident Evil remake? Heroin Hero?

New Naruto PSP game coming to US this fall

April 30, 2009

You didn't think Namco Bandai was done with the Naruto franchise, did you? They're bringing over another Naruto game to North American PSPs this fall. The game is called Naruto Shippuden: Legends: Akatsuki Rising. Let's forget about the double colons for a minute and look at what it brings to the table.

Akatsuki Rising an adventure game focusing on the Gaara rescue arc from the manga and anime. The game's Original Mode covers this part. Players will take control of three-man teams, two of which are support characters. There's also a cool Akatsuki Mode that lets players play as the bad guys during the Gaara Retrieval Arc.

Akatsuki Rising isn't a full-fledged fighting game, but there's an ad-hoc Versus Mode for those who just want to fight it out with their friends. The game also supports two-player co-op. Finally, there's a Scenario Mode where you can gather Skill Scrolls to pump up your character's abilities.

PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe gets new island, new boss, more

April 29, 2009

PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe - Image 1

When Q-Games president Dylan Cuthbert said the PSP version of PixelJunk Monsters would contain "50 more content", he wasn't kidding. For PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe they're cramming in content from Monsters, the Encore expansion pack, and the brand new Gati Gati Island.

The new island will have ten new stages, new enemies, and new music tracks. There will also be two new towers - the Gem Tower and the Trap Tower - that can be used in the classic stages and a new boss. Players can also go online via ad-hoc and infrastructure modes.

In lieu of Trophy support, PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe will instead have a "Medal Challenge" mode similar to the PS3's Trophy system. Getting Medals will net players access to unlockable videos, artwork, and the like.

PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe is due out this fall.

Time reveals its 100 Most Influential People, Shigeru Miyamoto slips to 42nd UPDATE

April 29, 2009

Shigeru Miyamoto - Image 1Like they say, once you're at the top, there's nowhere to go but down. In Shigeru Miyamoto's case, he went down quite a bit. After being at the top of Time 100 last year, the Nintendo gaming mastermind drops to #42 of Time Magazine's list of the 100 most influential people from various fields and industries. So who else made it to the list?

With a dominating vote count of 16,794,368, the unnamed founder of the community website 4chan, "moot," takes the top spot. Coming at a very distant second is Malaysian Democratic icon, Anwar Ibrahim with 2,316,378 votes.

Other popular names on that list include Kobe Bryant at #9, Li'l Wayne at #12, Tina Fey at #15, and Pound-for-Pound champ Manny Pacquiao at #22. Barrack Obama is at #37, while Sarah Palin makes it to #81, which is funny because I seriously don't believe she's more influential than #89 Steve Jobs.

Shigure Miyamoto comes in at #42 with 614,641 votes, right below Disney pop princess Miley Cyrus at #41. Yes, Miley Cyrus is apparently more influential than Miyamoto. Funny as it sounds, it could be true, with all the exposure that Disney is giving "Hannah Montanna" who also has her own video game.

Who would you put at the top of your list?

UPDATE

If you read the first letters of #1-22, it says, "Marble Cake also The Game."
The list was hacked, and thus, the list ain't legit. We'll keep you posted on the real list if it comes out.
